The eagerly anticipated first "linnets Derby" of the season. It was a great game played in the right spirit by both teams. Linnets blue started brightly and turned that into goals thanks to Ole Croxton and Harley Heckingbottom. Linnets green then scored which seemed to act as a prompt for the blues to wake up and start playing the type of football that have earned them respect this season. Switching play superbly with moments of individual skill this really opened the game up and lead to a flurry of superb goals.  Kai Cairns was imperious in goal. Just watching him warm up is enough to make any team wary. Kai enjoyed himself so much he was throwing in some dummies before taking goal kicks, a typically top performance from the blues custodian. It should also be noted that Kai is constantly communicating to his team and developing a real leadership mind set!! Michael Heckingbottom was assured in defence, incorporating step overs and quick turns to enable him to get away from linnets green attackers to create time and space to pick a pass. Michael also displayed leadership qualities through being encouraging and vocal to his team mates, brilliant! Skipper Sam Dimelow was a last minute inclusion due to an injury earlier in the week. He was played in an unfamiliar left wing role. No problem for the cannonball kid as he put in a typically dogged display bullying players into submission. Sam enjoyed the role which was highlighted by an outstanding assist and a rare goal which was taking incredibly well with his weaker left foot. Harley Heckingbottom typically weaved his magic all over the pitch. Superb ball control, dribbling and skill led to a top quality hat trick and several assists.......don't be fooled though Harley is no show pony. He worked tirelessly for his team and offered up encouraging comments when they were needed. Great display from a mercurial talent, well done!! Ole Croxton truly is a goal scoring machine right now, 4 superb goals using all of his positional prowess, speed, skill and understanding of his job in the team. One particular goal was a one touch turn, pace to get away from two defenders before opening his body up to finish with ice cold coolness. Rapidly turning into a real star turn for the blues......top performance!!
Vinny Farrington was once again asked to support the team and play in defence. As a true all rounder Vinny did this with ease not wasting possession once and keeping his discipline against his natural instinct to be a forward thinking player, thanks Vin. Once moved further forward he began to really enjoy himself and picked an absolute peach of a pass to turn defence into attack which was every bit as noticeable as any of the many goals scored during the match.....class act this kid!!
Harry Brown put in another superb show. Settling into the team and starting to really express himself with real raw pace and power. Harry also deserves credit for how much of the opposition play he actually broke up, a constant thorn in the greens side. He gave them no time to play which led to opportunity after opportunity for the blues. A real unsung hero for many reasons. It doesn't go unnoticed!!

U10 Green              A very entertaining match which seen a varying contrast in both halves of the match. First half showed the improving passing and movement from the U10 Greens. Some excellent football and a great goal from TJ set the tempo for a good first half. Second half the U10 greens didn't have the same tempo that they had during first half and the game became an up hill battle. Improving all the time and WE GO AGAIN!! MOM TJ

GU13 Yellow      Runcorn Linnets Girls u13s Yellow - 8 v Sandbach Eagles - 0

The winning run for Runcorn Linnets Girls u13s Yellow continued, with another stylish victory today over Sandbach Eagles on Saturday.
Our 8-0 win made it 70 goals in just 9 games with just 4 conceded - that's not bad going!
The match saw some impressive football from back to front, with us moving the ball quickly with sharp passing and intelligent movement. There were some great skills on display, with powerful running and great finishing! Sandbach simply couldn't live with us and had their exceptional goalkeepers (one in each half) to thank for keeping them in it at all. Give them their due, they showed great character and never gave up.
Four players weighed in on the goal scoring action with a brace each; well done to Callie Clarke-Smith, Amy Meadows, Macy Wilding and Lily Clifton for finishing off some beautifully taken team goals. All of which were a delight to watch!
A wonderful team performance all-in-all but special mention must go to Katie Evans for her PoM winning display; excellent in the back line, breaking up the play and bringing it out with class and no small amount of skill - she man-marked Sandbach's best player out of the game!
We've got a couple of weekends off now, with us still sitting pretty at the top of the league table - well done girls! I'm so proud of how well you're playing as a team.
