SCORES ON THE DOORS!

U7 Greens

Linnets u7 Greens came up against Pex Hill at the weekend and once again the weather was doing its best to make things difficult for the boys, although the rain had stopped prior to kick off the conditions were still tough and it was a bit of a lackluster performance in the first half with Pex Hill going the closest when they crashed an effort against the post.

Second half was much better from the Greens when Adam came out of goal and was quickly on the score sheet, his low effort took a deflection off a defender and the ball seemed to take an eternity to roll over the line. Adam then scored another, and again off a wicked deflection but this one looped over the unfortunate goalkeeper. Pex Hill drew a goal back when one of their players was left unmarked (we are not blaming a certain parent, honestly) and he hit a low effort into the corner just out of Mackenzie’s reach. Pex Hill started another attack as a player ran through towards goal but he ran straight into trouble, or Jack as he is known, who made a perfectly timed slide tackle and then got up and passed the ball to Matthew who took a touch and looked up before hitting a rocket straight in to the top corner!

Charlie was on corner duty this week and he managed to score as a result of his own corner, he whipped it in and the ball was ping ponging around in the box then the loose ball rolled to him and he ran onto it placing it high into the corner.

Pex Hill were a much improved team from earlier in the season and certainly caused the Greens some worries throughout.

Noah was named man of the match for exceeding expectations, he played in defence, midfield and upfront throughout the game and did himself proud for the work effort he put in, well done Noah

U9 Archers

Match report Archers v Senley and Garswood

After another weeks break this time due to Easter not the weather, it was good to be playing gain.

A scrappy first half saw archers with the better of chances but a lack of composure in front of goal and a lazy defending saw us concede midway through the first half.

Second half we woke up, and started to build from the back which saw jack score after some good work from James and fin down the left wing.  The boys pushed on and saw Eniel and James come close with a couple of shots hitting the woodwork.  Stan, Jacob and Joseph were holding firm at the back and on the odd occasion the opposition got through, they found Ollie hard to beat with him pulling off some great saves.

5 minutes later with some excellent football down the left from Fin and Josh, saw Fin cross for James to side foot home.  With pressure mounting a corner kick from Josh just evaded Jacks head, who then found the ball back at his feet and lashed home from close range as the defenders closed in.

Best was to come, a 12 pass move from defence to attack saw Jack complete his hat-trick. In the last minutes of the game saw Senley came back at us with wave after wave, some stern defending kept them out until a minute to go they scored from a corner.

Great game of football, the lads showed commitment and determination.

Goals, James and jack

MOM Fin,  listened at half time to what I asked him to do and executed it to perfection
