Runcorn New Town, Liverpool City Region.

aKidamey's 10 Year History

Founded in 2006, Runcorn Linnets JFC established the junior training aKidamey and introduced a new innovative way to coach and school young boys and girls in the art of football.

The aKidamey is a Halton Community Sunday Soccer School, with a successful 10th year history of providing quality, fun football coaching sessions open to all children between 3 and 11 years of age, regardless of ability.

We develop beginners, or players who are currently playing for other local clubs and just looking for a bit of extra training. Due to the success of our aKidamey, over the last ten years we have been able to introduce four new Under 7's boys and girls teams into a Junior Football League every season, purely based on players that have attended our aKidamey. We have also been able to add to and strengthen our existing older teams as well as accommodate new development teams across the age groups. The sessions are not purely focused on Runcorn Linnets, as many children attending our sessions play for or go on to play for other local teams.

Our coaching team is headed up by two very experienced coaches - UEFA 'A' Licence Head Coach Keith Cliffe & Linnets Head of Junior Football Development Ronnie Green.

Where our we?

Way back in 2006, Inter Union started the aKidamey at Runcorn's Heath public park, today the aKidamey is based at our very own Halton Sports Complex with Café and toilet facilities.

The aKidamey is held every Sunday morning at:
Halton Sports Complex, Murdishaw Avenue, Murdishaw, Runcorn, WA7 6HP.

What Makes the aKidamey Different from any other Soccer School?

Our aKidamey session programmes are structured, fun training sessions to help children improve their core skills and development. They are not somewhere for parents to send a child to just to kick a ball and muck about with jumpers for goalposts.

Runcorn Linnets aKidamey forward thinking Football Development coaches introduced a revolutionary Football Progression System (FPS), to keep the Club at the forefront of grass roots player development in the Halton area.

Our Linnets player awards system has been designed by qualified coaches involving the FUNdamentals and all aspects of football development, including grass roots, Professional Club Academy systems.

Players are coached using our Linnets Development Theory:
Technical - Ball Mastery, Technical Development, and Small Sided Practical Games
Physical - FUNdamentals and ABC's Agility, Balance, Co-ordination and Speed
Psychological - Player Learning, Motivation, Self Esteem, Respect
Social - Make Friends, Develop Confidence

The FPS Player Pathway

The FPS player pathway consists of 44 different awards, each award comes with a high quality woven sew on badge and certificate.
These awards encourage the all-round development of the players and include social development, ball mastery, technical skills, speed, agility, fitness, balance and decision making.
There are 7 discreet levels, which are referred to as:

aKidamey Football Progressional System at Runcorn Linnets Junior Football Club
  • Level 1 – Football Award
  • Level 2 – Single Boot Award
  • Level 3 – Two Boots Award
  • Level 4 – Goal Award
  • Level 5 – Goal and Football Award
  • Level 6 – Goal, Boot and Football Award
  • Level 7 – Goal, Pair of Boots and Football Award

To acheive each core development award, bronze, silver and gold are achievable.
Each child that attends the aKidamey receives an Assessment Book to keep which holds a visual record of their development, this gives parents and children instant feedback as to where they are on their football pathway. The book is updated after continued player assessment by our Head Coach.

The aKidamey Team

Working with Keith & Ronnie are some excellent up and coming young coaches, as well as the clubs U6's and U7's coaches. The aKidamey team deliver quality fun session programmes that will see Runcorn Linnets JFC lead the way in true grass roots football development for years to come.

Starting in 2016 our NEW revamped 10 week programme will combine numerous fun ways to learn about the three ABC's of core FUNdamentals of Movement - Ability, Balance, Co-ordination (that benefit young people in any sport - not just Football) and Speed along with Ball Manipulation (skills) with Small Sided Game Play Practice, as Linnets aKidamey continues to improve its standards and push new coaching ideas at grass roots level.

aKidamey Details & Cost

Children are still welcome to join at anytime during the programme and the fee will be calculated on a pro rata basis. i.e. if a child joins with 8 sessions left the payment due will be £24 (only £3 per session).
This fee includes your childs own personal Linnets ‘Football Progression System’ Assessment Record book and any FPS Level certificates & badges they may receive during the programme.
