U7Yellow The boys started off as they finished the cup game the week before and was soon off the mark after about 1 min. Some fantastic football played by both teams played in right spirit. 3 hat-tricks from 3 different lads so unselfish at time these lads are bonding week in week out well done mom goes to Luke after a great game this boy is becoming great between the sticks. Happy to be part of this
U7Green Runcorn Linnets greens 3 V's Weston point United 0 Cup game Started well with early pressure Weston defended well a close 1st half 0-0 at half time changed things around and started the 2nd half with a great goal from George fisher a Maradona turn and a great shot to put us 1 up pressure came from Weston but some great defending from kya Mia Shaw and some great goal keeping from Daniel Grogan then a contender for goal of the season from Tom Rigby a mazy run beat three players and smashed a shot into the top corner a great team performance all round goals George Fisher and 2 from tom Rigby m.o.m Tom Rigby happy manager 🙂
U7Blue In stark contrast to the previous weeks match this was all about grinding out a performance. Early chances came thick and fast for linnets but a mixture of bad luck and pitch conditions meant we couldn't quite break the deadlock. Great work from Abi Cassidy earned linnets a breakthrough penalty scored by "the hammer" James Routledge. Solid goalkeeping and much improved distribution by Kai cairns meant our door was firmly shut at the back. Leaving skipper Sam Dimelow free to pick out passes and go on his trademark runs which have given him the label of cannonball kid!...... Frankie Gilbert worked tirelessly as always in conditions not suited to his usual game, glimpses of brilliance almost culminated in a great team goal when Frankie unleashed a shot from outside the box saved heroically by the Pex hill keeper. James Routledge was ploughing the pitch up like a seasoned piece of farm machinery and his hard work was rewarded with a penalty finish which almost tore the back off the net!! Abi Cassidy was left frustrated by a resolute Pex hill defence. She did however run them ragged to the point of conceding the aforementioned penalty. Defences throughout the league must hate playing against our female footballing battering ram, great return to the side Abi 🙂 Special mentions for two real unsung heroes in Koby "goal machine" Mcdonald and Vinny "pirlo" Farrington. These lads change games and both contributed to changing this one! A great cross and assist from Sam Dimelow sat nicely at the feet of Koby, a touch out of his feet and then BANG! Great goal from our very own striking enigma. Keep doing what you do Koby 🙂 Vinny Farrington quite simply opened up the game for us. Great touches and simple but incisive passing led to periods of play more suited to Barcelonas tiki taka football circa 2009. Pex hill players were left frustrated and bamboozled by the angles Vinny could find with his passing. Impressive stuff from the quickly improving midfield maestro. Goals from "the hammer" James Routledge and Koby "goal machine" McDonald. Mom Vinny "Pirlo" Farrington.
U8Mads First round of the Spring Cup saw the Mads u8's meet another Linnets team Soul boys for a club Derby, Mads with a reduced squad due to a season ending injury for Ethan (get well soon Ethan ) from the off the Mads took the game to the Soul boys but a resilient defence kept the Mads at bay for the first 10 minutes then a corner from Freddie evaded by everyone but Aaron at the far post who knocked it in. Then we had a flurry of goals, Josh with a shot from 15yards, a throw in from Connor in for Aaron to toe in at the far post. A great shot across the face of the goal in off the post from Connor to net himself a goal. Then a move which ended with a pass from Josh to Aaron neatly slotted home goal. A corner from Freddie allowed Connor to find the net. Connor then hit a shot from outside the area which the keeper stopped but could not hold Aaron was on hand to knock in the rebound. Josh went on a mazy run going past 3 defenders and slotted It past the keeper. Half time saw Aaron taking on the goalkeeping gloves to give Lennon a run out, Soul Boys conceded an OG. Lennon didn't disappoint and was soon on the score sheet knocking home a super pass from Finn. He repeated the performance minutes later with a through ball from Brad. The Soul Boys went on the attack their striker was clean through and as he took the ball past Aaron (goalkeeper ) he was thwarted by Aaron diving full length at his feet and pulling the ball away the forward then took another kick at the ball but Aaron held onto it . From Aaron's kick up field Finn controlled the ball and laid a pass onto Lennon to score. Soul Boys went on the attack and forced a corner which Mads were unable to clear and the ball was stabbed home to give them a well-deserved goal for their efforts. Aaron swapped places with Connor (goalkeeper) then we were treated to a Finn special 15 yards out BANG! Aaron resuming his striker duties had a shot which was blocked by a defender but he despatched the rebound. Lennon then finished a move between Finn, Brad & Lennon. Some excellent play from Brad who's shot was guided in by Lennon. A great game played in excellent spirit Mads have progressed into the quarter final where once again they meet the Archers. MOM Aaron goal scorers Aaron 5 Lennon 4 josh 2 Connor 2 Finn 1 Brad 1 & OG Mads 16-1 Soul boys
U8Archers A fixture that never disappoints we traveled to Widnes to play pex hill in the spring cup. First half saw both teams play some good football and waste a number of good opportunities. 5 minutes to go a dubious penalty was awarded to pex hill. Enter center stage Eneil, who stayed strong and pulled of a fine save. The save seemed to inject new life into us and for the final few minute we upped our game and were rewarded with a goal from Isaac on the struck of halt time. After a tackle on the half way line Isaac sprinted forward and hit the ball high into the top corner past the advancing goal keeper
After half time both teams had a real go but we wasting chances. Pex hill hit the post, it rolled across the goal line and hit the other post ( let off). Sensing full time was near pex hill pressed for the equalizer yet archers stayed strong and dug in proving we can mix it physically not just play pretty football.
Goal scorer Isaac Mom Eneil , great performance in goal well done

U9Green The boys came up against BPR today and took a good few knocks from this physical team. It was nice to see some great passing and moving between the boys and starting to take their chances to shoot no matter which foot it falls to. Captain Mikey was everywhere on this pitch even though he had not been well. Curtis in goal was in great form with even the Ref commenting at the end on how well he played. Once again it was the silly mistakes that cost us in the end but least the lads know that and look to improve on it. They are starting to look good together and the extra Futsal training seems to be paying off. These boys will be a force come next season. MOM to both Mikey and Curtis.
U10H&D Linnets v Beechwood. Always our banana skin game this one and has the feel of a local derby! Beechwood looked well organised from the start and made it very hard for us to break them down, causing us to play unfamiliar scrappy football. This all changed however after the introduction of two excellent passers of the ball in Mekhi Knight and Jack Cresswell who seemed to slow the game down a little and get us playing as a team with some great link up play. The deadlock was broken just before half time when a thunderbolt effort from just inside the opponents half was blasted into the top corner from team captain Harlee. After the break this was added to by a great run down the left by the ever present Ollie who found Lewis T for a great volley into the bottom corner. Shortly after Cresswell finished the game off with a calm and collected finish to seal MOM after a top performance. A second clean sheet was kept by our new keeper Joel who was ever alert and didn't put a foot wrong and looks to be an exciting addition to the team adding to our strength! Very proud coaches, Parents and Players. It shows outstanding progress and consistent form.
U10WJFL Warrington league. A 30 minute delay to KO was due road works in Wigan and with no time to warm up. Seeing the boys thrown into the gauntlet against Highfield grange fc. A team that dropped down from the Warrington prem. From the off the boys were pinned back from the onslaught of the Highfield tikka taka passing and attack. 15 minutes in and the might of the linnets 10s were finding their feet and the rest was history. Goals coming from Michael martin Ethan Hansen and Robert martin sealed à superb and well deserved accolade for every player getting MOM

U16 Linnets 5-1 Knowsley. Great game for the lads today as they dominated from start to finish. Niall was to open the scoring with a well taken finish. Lewis was next as he helped himself to a couple of goals before the half time. The second half a lapse in concentration let in Knowsley for a cheap goal. 3-1 then Ryan smashed in from close range to score his first of the season to give Linnets a 4-1 lead. Deklan was not to miss out on the scoring as he cracked in a well-placed free kick. 5-1 flattered Knowsley as they were out classed all over the park. MOM Deklan. . Are best wishes going out to Niall as the end of season curse hit my team again with Niall fracturing his shoulder. ...Get well soon mate

Youth Girls U'18 girls put in a brave performance yesterday against runaway leaders Stockport County, the match with 10 players keeping the score 0:0 for a quarter of the game before the extra player told. By the time the 11th player came on, going in at half time still a credible achievement. Battling on the Linnets couldn't stop another 2 long shots going in but still a very brave performance and they should all be very proud. Final score : Linnets 0 Stockport 4
