Match Report vs Whittle Hall (Home)
This was a game of excellent individual performances from the Linnets, which are detailed below; exhibiting great teamwork against a Whittle Hall team that battled to the end of the match and managed to grab a well deserved goal deep into the second half.
Rio: Had a quiet first half but made a couple of good saves in the second half, including a brave claim at the feet of a Whittle Hall attacker.
Louis: Provided effective balance on the left hand side, quick in the tackle and set up several attacks for the team with good distribution
Harry: An assured presence at the back, clearing up danger and passing the ball efficiently. He moved into an advanced position in the second half, had some good runs and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet
Rhys: A great eye for a pass, strong in the tackle and found the net on more than one occasion. A powerful low drive into the corner in the first half was the pick of them.
Oscar: A constant livewire, providing pacy, barnstorming runs in attack and excellent goals, including a lung busting effort that finished with a great strike into the roof of the net.
Oliver: A tigerish display of tackling and running from Oliver, who just will not give up in any attempt to win the ball for the team. He was also unlucky in front of goal.
Anthony: A great free kick to start proceedings for Linnets and a coolly taken penalty later, before moving back into defence where he looked untroubled.
Luca: Tireless, selfless running and a constant thorn in the side for the opponents. His all round game both in attack and defence typified the spirit of the team.
Logan: A man of the match performance by Logan, whose quality of goals and trickery on the ball were a constant menace. All of his strikes were of great quality, particularly an instinctive right foot curler into the top corner in the second half.
Man of the match: Logan
Goal of the match: Rhys
