06/01/13 U7's v TL Tiger Blacks KO 11.30 Little Heath Mini #2 - M&HJFL
After a 3 week break from playing and with no training completed this year, the 24hrs before the game gave us an idea of what to expect. A sickness hit Linnets started reasonably well passing, moving and finding lots of space. All the game was played in the opponents half but they were very dangerous in attack. After scoring first Linnets lost their way a little and ended up being one down at half time. The second half followed suit, all the game in the opponents half but after getting themselves level Linnets conceded 2 break away goals with the match finishing with Thomas Lane Tigers two up. Hopefully the lads have learnt from their last two matches. MOM was joint - Kyle Codack and Joe Mercer for sharing the goalkeeping duties.

05/01/13 U8's v Runcorn Town KO 12 St Augustines School - HDJFL
A long time without a match did not show in the performance with one of the 8s all round performances of the season. Some fantastic passing and moving and great use of the wings helped break down a stubborn Town defence who threw their bodies in front of everything. Game stretched out and managed to get the goals. 5 coming from Alfie Hayes and one from Ethan Hansen. Superb team performance but MOM was equally shared between 4 players! Luke smith who won every tackle he made and caused problems bursting forward. Sean Gaskill, great feet and a calmness on the ball at the back. Michael Martin who was solid in midfield and again won every tackle and Alfie Hayes not just for his 5 goals but his all round work rate. However every one played excellent. Well done the 8s

06/01/13 U10's v Kingsthone KO 9.30 Arncliffe Mini #2 - M&HJFL
3-0 win. The 10s picked up their 1st 3 points of the year after dominating Kingsthorne with a great all round team performance. Goals from Ethan Olubodun (2 - a volley and a tap in) and a sniffer from Niall Roberts. MOM went to: Aaron Brennan, Luke Hayes, Niall Roberts, Tom Smith, Tom Collins, Dean Woodward, Ben Hough, Jorge Dwyer and Ethan Olubodun (They all deserve a mention!)

06/01/13 U13's v Kingsthorne Jags KO 9.45 Barncroft Full Sized #1 - MHJFL
Kingsthorne Jags 6 - 3 Linnets. Goals from Luca Tron, Jack Samuel and Adam Hughes. First game back from Christmas, a good attacking performance by Linnets, creating many chances throughout, but Linnets punished heavily for a few schoolboy mistakes and some strange refereeing decisions. Very entertaining game, result could have easily been the other way around. MOM - Joe Coady for a dominant display at the back, getting back to his best form.

05/01/13 U14's v St Michaels KO 10.30 Leigh Rec #1 - HDJFL
St Mikes 2 - 6 Runcorn Linnets. This being the teams first game since the first week in December the 14s were to take out their frustration on St Mikes. With Linnets having most of the possession and chances in the first half it was strange to only lead 1-0 at the break after a great strike from Kyle. Second half Linnets turned up the heat resulting in goals from Dan and Mikey giving Linnets a three goal cushion. A lapse in concentration from a corner gave St Mikes a lifeline but straight from the KO Mikey hit his second and Linnets fourth. Aero was then to score the goal of the game as he ran half of the field to see his shot rebound of the keeper back onto his head as he fell to the floor 'and he said he ment it!! St Mikes grabbed a second just before Sam smashed home the sixth and final goal of the game. Great all round team performance. Big thanks to Cal for going in goal due to Joe being unwell. MoM went to Aero. Another great weekend lads cheers
