Scores On The Doors

Junior Linnets results from weekend commencing 21/09/2013

Under 7s Archers

21/9 v Pavilions Predators KO 13:30 Halton Sports – HDJFL

Back to fortress this week the lads continued to play football the right way with the ball on the floor.   Goals coming from James, Joseph, Thomas, Isaac, Fin and Jake the boys were a joy to watch as they dominated the middle of the park.  When threatened at the back Jack and Joseph held firm winning the ball and starting off attacks using the width of the pitch to full effect.  With Pavilions goalkeeper being the busier of the two he pulled off a string of great saves to keep the score down.  MoM was Thomas. Great team display again boys, proud of you all.

Under 7s Mads

21/9 v Pex Hill Pumas 12:00 Halton Sports – HDJFL

A really physical game saw Mads take an early couple of goal advantage though some great passing and clinical finishing.  Pumas battled back into it to draw level before half time.  Second half Mads continued to pass the ball around the pitch with pace and conviction and it wasn't long before we were a couple of goals up again with 10 to go.  Despite the lion share of possession the opposition drew level with five to go.  Time for the Mads to lay siege to the opposing goal one last time  and they got our reward 1 minute from time with a cool finish from Josh.  More drama was to follow though as in the dying seconds Connor pulled of a world class save to maintain the score line.  Fantastic team effort guys not only played good football but mixed it up with what was a big, strong physical team.  Proud of you all, keep it up well done

Under 8s

22/9 v Netherley Woodlane Legion KO 12:30 Caldway Drive Mini C – BVJFL

The boys kicked off against a very good NWL side, from the start we tried playing football from the back and the boys looked really good, first half goals from Charlie Fisher and Nathan Mercer meant the boys went into the break comfortable. The second half was different though and NWL put Linnets under real pressure and eventually got a deserved goal. After which Linnets played some lovely football and Lucas Ramsden, Archie Nolan and Leighton Stanley were playing some fantastic balls into midfield from defence, with the run of play goals from James Walsh and Liam Hall meant the boys went home the happier team. MoM went to Nathan Mercer who captained the team on his 8th birthday and was brilliant all game. Well done little men another great team performance.

Under 9s

21/9 v Sutton Juniors Dynamite KO 10:00 St Theresa's Catholic Primary – WDJFL

Linnets played some jaw dropping football, knocking the ball around from the back, patient build ups resulting in some fantastic goals. Goals from Alfie Hayes (3), Daniel Lampkin (3), Jack Steele (2), Michael Martin (1) , Ethan Hansen (1). Joint MoM went to Ethan Hansen for some great build up play and for showing brilliant composure on the ball and Sean Gaskill who produced solid defending and started some brilliant attacks from the back and was consistently talking to his team mates. Great performance from the Linnets again

22/9 v Farmers KO 9.30 Arncliffe #2 – MHJFL

Again another performance where the score did not reflect the game.

For the first 10 minutes of the game was completely controlled by Linnets. It wasn't too long before that control paid off when MoM Luke Smith smashed one into the top corner from outside the visitors area. However after a challenge on Ethan Hansen who had to leave the field, and could not resume, the home team seemed to lose their shape and the visitors equalised. From then on in it was an end to end game with both teams making chances. The second for the visitors came through a deflected block which left the Linnets keeper with no chance. Linnets had plenty of chances to even the score but as they pressed in the dying minutes Farmers got the break to put the game beyond doubt. The lads played out of their skin today and battled right to the final whistle. Runcorn Linnets 1 Farmers 3. Well done and wishing Ethan a speedy recovery!

Under 10s

21/09 v Lymm Piranhas Avengers KO 10:00 Cherry Tree Primary School (WA13 0NX) #2 – WDJFL

Linnets kicked off their new campaign with a great display of football winning 7-1. Goals came from new signing James Egan (4), new signing Joe Forthsight (2),  Harry Davies (1). MoM was awarded to Fenton Gibbons who was brilliant in midfield and grabbed 5 assists for the teams goals.

Under 11s

21/09 No Game - HDJFL

22/09 v Gilmore KO 9.45 Heron Eccles #2 – MHJFL

Linnets were fresh going into the game, after a rest week in the Halton league. The Sunday team is finally showing signs of hitting the form required week in week out in this strong league. Showing excellent passing from start to finish and also some very decisive finishing from attackers and midfielders. Linnets won the game comfortably 10-2 with goals from: Jorge Dwyer (5), Tom Collins (2), Joe Mc (2), Ethan Olubodun (1). MoM Went to Joe Mc for a very impressive debut for the Linnets.

Under 12s

21/09 v Pavilions Patriots KO 10:30 Halton Sports #4 – HDJFL

Linnets under 12s set out to put a dismal defeat last season against Pavillions right and that's exactly what they did with a resounding 11-0 win, not really letting their opponents into the game from start to finish. Another good win but it's only 3 points so we'll stay focused and push on , goals came from: Olly Service (4) , Jack Swanson grabbing himself another 2 followed up with one each for Owen Kennington, Jamie Hooper, Jack Paterson, Reece Harwood and skipper Meric Lale. MoM went to Olly Service 2nd Jamie Hooper, well done lads keep it going.

15/09 v Newton Athletic KO 2:00 Halton Sports #1 - CDJFL

Another tough game in the Chester league, Newton Athletic who we were only beaten twice by last year. This was a much improved Linnets team which showed in a great 1-0 win and another all round team effort in which every player played their part . Impressive forward Olly Service was once again on the score sheet, MoM went to the excellent Reece Rowlands for an outstanding performance at left back 2nd went to Olly Service. Well done lads keep it going.

Under 14s

22/09 v Mossley Hill KO 11.15 Heron Eccles #2 – MHJFL

Mossley Hill 6-1 Linnets U14. Linnets goal from Matty Parry. A slow start in first half by Linnets putting the yellows 2 down in 10mins. Linnets kept battling but leaked 3 more goals in quick succession just before half time. A half time talk and change of attitude saw Linnets fight back strongly. Second half saw Linnets create many chances to score but struggled to finish and get back into the game. 6-1 final score. Lessons to be learned after allowing a strong Liverpool outfit too much time on the ball. MoM went to Luca Tron

Under 15s

Under 16s

22/9 v Newton Athletic KO 10:30 Upton Rec – EPJFL

16s beat a very good Newton side 3-1. The boys haven't hit top form yet and someone is going to be on the end of a thrashing when they do! Scorers were Brad Williams, Matty H Jones and a worldy by Big Tom Morgan. MoM Haris Yassin.
