A game that was going to be unfair on whichever team lost, unfortunately it was the turn of the Linnets this time. 1-1 aet, it required the fate of penalties to decide who progressed in this year’s competition with 3 penalties to take and 8 willing takers it wasn't an easy decision. A great game from both sets of players saw lots of end to end action which could have resulted in either team winning in normal time. Match time and positions were once again shared by the boys without any complaints who are now starting to see the benefit of more time on the pitch. By always looking to play out from the back Linnets managed to keep the ball on the floor for large periods and play and decent football without the reward of a goal. Linnet’s boys kept plugging away and didn't let their heads drop when going a goal behind. Instead they increased their efforts whilst still trying to do the right things. They got there rewards mid way through the second half ironically through a long ball over the top from Leighton Stanley which allowed Liam Hall to run through and hit an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. For the coaches this was developmental football at its best, two equal teams both trying to play football, learning and having great fun. Handshakes all round at the end which was great to see. All the boys were great this week, It would be unfair to single anyone out for MoM. Training Wednesday 6PM start!

07/12/13 v Crosfields JFC Denmark KO 11:00 St Gregory's High School Mini #9 – WDJFL
Linnets faced Crosfields. The lads looked a little bit tired in the first half not playing with their usual speed and quality, however second half improved greatly and Linnets back to playing their quality football. Goals from Michael Martin (3), Bradley Lucas, Alfie Hayes, Sean Gaskill, Daniel Lampkin and Josh Senior. MoM was Alfie Hayes for very good solid performance and unselfishness with a fantastic pass that set up a goal when he could of had a go himself
