Scores On The Doors

Junior Linnets results from weekend commencing 06/09/2014

Under 7s Yellow

Pex Hill Cosmos – Sat KO 12.00 Prescot Road, Widnes – H&D

What a first game. We were all back and ready to go only, missing little Dan who is ready next week. Started off very strong and carried this on till the final whistle. The lads we're passing the ball like they had been playing together for years, pass and move springs to mind a lot. Training has paid off during pre season majorly as one of the goals from today came from Callum who scored with his left foot and before pre-season he would never have tried that. The lads done great....Happy coaches!

We started the game well it was close throughout contest, 2 goals from Logan Robinson, 1 form Cody Cunliffe, and a pen from Tom Rigby. Daniel Grogan in goal made some great saves during the match. Pexhill battled hard and put us under pressure throughout the game, and the lads made some good tackles and fantastic saves. Great game in whole for both teams even the ref had a good game!

Great Linnets league debut for the team. MoM Harlee Lloyd, solid performance and upped his game playing some great passing football from the back, 2 goals from the reliable Lewis Thompson, one being another very well placed penalty and kepper Jak Mo kept a clean sheet. Well done lads!

Under 10s FUTSAL

Halewood Town – Sun KO 9.30 Arncliffe Centre – M&H Conf

The new boys 1st game together and they were unfortunate to be a couple behind at the break after containing the play and but not really threatening in the final 3rd. 2nd half was all Linnets and the team grew in confidence with every touch and were well in control of the game. As predicted Linnets were to score the next vital goal and it fell to tricky Brad Lucas who slotted to start the comeback. Chance after chance went begging for Linnets and keeper Alex and last man Fin were between them both keeping any counter attacks at bay. After some great build up play the ball finally fell to Callum who sent the ball back across the goal into the top corner to level. Linnets kept playing and pressing as Emlyn nearly grabbed the winner with some good inter play with Brad but was thwarted by some good defending. Great 1st run out together. Josh Mc, JoshC, Creswell, Harvey, Emlyn, Brad & Alex all played their part but it was Finlay who picked up MoM for an outstanding 2nd half display at the back. Well done lads!!

Under 13′s Green

Heath Rangers Barca – Sat KO 10.30 Halton Sports #5 – M&H

A new season, a new club for the under 13s Green. A familiar first game opponent in Heath Rangers Barca (seems we always start against HRB).  Our boys started nervously but calmed down and even managed to shrug off a penalty miss before going on to a half time score of 2-0.  A similarly nervous 2nd half start saw the boys concede and come under quite a bit of pressure early doors.  The kids showed their maturity and resolve though to weather this and come back and grab two more goals to secure a well deserved 4-1 victory. Callum Watson, Declan O'Mullane, Ryan Brooks (MoM) and Captain Joseph Kowalewski netted their first goals of the season but the whole team deserves massive credit for their first 11 a side game, their first game for a new club and 3 points! Well done lads.

Under 14′s

Newton Le Willows - Sun KO 10.30 Halton Sports #5 – WJFL

Great start to the new season in the Merseyside & Halewood league for the lads, looked solid at the back with the new signings and looked like we were going to score with every attack, along with midfield controlling the game after a slow start. Looking forward to next week and to improve on this solid display.

Under 16′s

Cronton Villa – Sat KO 12 ‘TBC’ - STH&R
