A match that we played the better football was shown by the goals we scored and the chances we created. A world class display from the opposing goal keeper though stopped us from scoring more. Keep up the good work and attitude boys

Runcorn Town – Sat KO 12.00 St Augustines School – H&D

A big improvement from Tuesday’s game, with the boys playing how we know they can. Pressured them and kept their position throughout the game. Harvey Josh and Jacob controlled the defence, while TJ and Bailey kept towns defence on their toes.

Goals came from Bailey, TJ and a long range effort from Josh that went in from the halfway line. Big thank you to stand in coach Stu Graham who has to be the best coach at the club by a running country mile.

MOM – The whole team for the performance.

 Under 10s H&D
Hale Juniors – Sat KO 10.30 Halton Sports #4 – H&D

Linnets match called off but friendly with Hale replaced the match. Good performance all round from the lads especially the stand in goalkeepers Lewis Owen and Harlee Lloyd both keeping a clean sheet. Two goals again from the ever reliable Lewis Thompson.

Under 10s Warr
Lymm Pharanas– Sat KO 12.00 Halton Sports #4 – WJFL

Under 10s Warrington. Yet again a complete team display passing moving and fantastic support play. The team are scary at times at how well they link together. Daniel Lampkin scored his second hat trick in consecutive games. Jack Steele, Josh senior and Robert Martin scoring a goal a piece. MoM was just edged by Zak "Judgy" Judge who played with maturity and calmness and never stopped encouraging his team mates. Second week in a row some very proud coach's well played lads!

Under 10s M&H
Whiston Juniors – Sun KO 10.30 Arncliffe #1 – M&H D1

After the disappointing performance in their first game of the season the lads made up for it. From the first whistle to the last the Linnets where in total control of the game. However it took until midway through the first half to break the deadlock. Deri Hutchinson having only just came on scored. The next came 5 minutes later courtesy of some outstanding counter attacking play. Whiston had a throw in inside the Linnets half but they were not allowed to settle. Linnets stole possession and drove into the Whiston half, two passes later MoM Michael Martin buried his low shot into the net.

The second half again was one way traffic but it again it was midway through the half before Michael Martin found the net to secure his brace.

 Under 10s FUTSAL
Halewood Town Juniors – Sun KO 11.30 Arncliffe #1 – M&H Conf

(Josh Crockett 4, Emlyn 1). A fine attacking display from the futsal boys. A first half hat trick from Josh Crockett, with the pick of the bunch, a fine run from Josh, beating his man, sliding Bradley in on goal, Brad played a perfectly weighted pass to the far post were Josh Crockett tapped in. A true futsal fast passing move. Cresswell and Harvey were faultless at wingback positions, offering a great supply of attacks and solid defensive games. Josh McDonald had a Beckenbauer-esque performance at sweeper restarting almost every wave of attacks. Alex in goal was called upon regular to come off his line to sweep up, and was brought to a full stretch save from a fine long shot.  Brad, Joe and Josh were superb in midfield constantly running at the Halewood defence causing them problems every time they had possession, with Emlyn leading the forward line with a great team ethic, earning a goal from his close range shot being saved, but was smart enough to follow up and poach his first Linnets goal. The best goal of the game came with the last attack of the game, Harvey and Josh Crockett ran at Halewood from the left back position, completing 3 one-two passes cutting Halewood open, finally from just inside the box, Josh Crockett smashed home a first time left foot shot hard and low in at the near post. A superb goal, summing up a superb attacking display. MOM - Bradley Lucass for a great team effort, and team ethic in assisting Josh Crockett in completing a hat trick, followed closely by a superb Josh McDonald and 4 goal hero Josh Crockett.

Young Gate – Sat KO 9.30 Halton Sports #6 – STH&R

The U12s started as they finished off last week with a commanding 6-0 victory over Young Gate. A brace from Jorje Orme with one each from Jack Hutton-Clarke and Macauley Clifton saw Linnets into a strong position before Man of the Match Tom Collins stole the show in the second half with two super goals including an excellent 20 yard lob - after having spent the first half in goal covering for the injured Joe Gould - get well soon Joe! Special mention to Niall Roberts for spending the second 30 minutes between the sticks despite having little to do. Well done lads!

Under 13′s Green– Sat KO – M&H

After a great first performance we came down to earth with a bump today.  Disappointing result and performance. Comfortably beaten and unfortunately deservedly too.  On the positive side the boys never gave up and tried to play football where possible rather than resorting to the long ball.  Overall as a unit we didn't hit the mark and were picked off by a better team on the day.  We will dust ourselves off and go again on a few weeks.

Athletico Garston – Sun KO 9.45 Simpsons #3 – M&H

Athletico Garston 2 v 1 Runcorn Linnets - Jack Samuel 1 (pen). Tough defeat to take today. We showed great football at times and looked dangerous going forward from back to front.
Sloppy goal conceded from a corner at the beginning of first half put us on the back foot after creating more than a few chances to take the lead. Game finished 2-1 to opposition after spending most of the second half camped in their half. Tale of not taking our chances and at this level if we want to compete, Looking to build composure to slot the chances we are creating. Bring on training Wednesday where we can spend some quality time training with the lads on composed finishing in and around the 18 yard box.

Girls Under 18’s

The u'18s had great possession against Vale Congleton in the first half despite surviving a penalty for a push, enabling them to build goal two goal lead with efforts by Emma McLarney (header) and after a great move down the right hand side involving 4 players Ellie Taylor finished with a neat right footed pass-finish. An own goal by the opposition made the deficit even greater however two late goals by Vale made the final minutes a little more exciting than could have been anticipated, forcing good saves to add to a fantastic penalty save by keeper Kimberley Buckley.

Final Score Linnets :3 Vale :2 MoM Kimberley Buckley

Youth

Youth side put in a great performance beating Atherton Collieries who before the game were top. Great 4-2 win which puts the young Linnets side top of the league and made the management and directors very proud.
