U7Blue           Linnets blue u7s vs Heath Rangers Bilbao u7s Spring cup. Wow!! What an unbelievable match.  Heath Rangers arrived with a big reputation, big players and an impressive record so far this season. Considered amongst the best, However, linnets blue were not about to cater to reputations and flew at Heath Rangers early on with wave after wave of attacks. The first half was dominated by linnets, much to the surprise of The Heath line, management and players. The second half was a much more even affair as Heath showed their class at times with some nice passing and movement off the ball. They did however meet a team with big hearts, Kai Cairns was an animal in goal being brave whenever needed and put himself in danger several times for his team. Sam Dimelow put up with some rough treatment from their striker and at one point was pushed over off the ball. This didn't deter linnets defensive Trojan as he battled throughout and frustrated his opposition with his dogged determination and will to win. Vinny farrington was a last minute defensive option and played his heart out alongside Sam, putting his body on the line for his team and offering up some great passing out of defence. Vinny also showed a great attitude throughout listening to instruction. Frankie Gilbert ran and ran and ran for his team even carrying an injury. Up against bigger children he was immense in his battling to win the ball back. He also showed great skill and composure with some unbelievable runs and shots on goal. This was Frankie’s best display in a linnet’s shirt for sure. James Routledge was moved to an unfamiliar position as striker but this didn't phase him. Endless energy, pace and power saw him scaring the life out of Heath Rangers. James was a constant threat to their defence and at one point drew gasps from the crowd with the power of his shots and deliveries from set pieces. This match went all the way to extra time and was a real war of attrition. Goals came from Vinny farrington and James Routledge. Mom were Sam "cannonball kid" Dimelow and Frankie "fast feet" Gilbert. If people didn't know how much we're improving before this match, they do now!! Linnets blue u7s have arrived.

U8Mads         After a later than usual KO and despite the weather turning wintery ,( we had rain, sleet, snow then sunshine ) a great performance was given by both teams, the Mads had a full score sheet again with first half goals coming from Freddie, 2 Finn 2 & Ethan 2, second half saw Aaron & Connor come on as subs there was more of what we saw in the 1st half  plenty of missed chances and more goals from  Connor 1 Ethan 1 , Finn 2 and Aaron 2 , good  work in defence   from Finn & Josh creative play from Ethan and great passing moves from Connor, Freddie & Aaron  and another clean sheet for Lennon . U9Green              Was the ball actually over the line or not? Should a penalty have been given? Some say yes and some say no but that doesn’t really matter in mini football. All I know is my under 9's and beechwood put on a spectacular cup game that went all the way to penalties.  The game was an end to end action packed match bringing the best out of both goalkeepers’. At times I thought I was going to need the defibrillator for one of the parents but that's what cup games are all about. This team may have only been together 6 months but every week their performance gets better and when they lose, not once have i seen them drop their heads or complain about decisions, only on how they made a mistake and how they'll learn from it. I'm so looking forward to coaching and watching these lads get better with time.

U10H&D             Runcorn Linnets v Heath Madrid (Spring Cup) today we welcomed a very strong Heath Ranger Madrid team to the Milbank for a cup match that all knew would be a cracker. And it didn't disappoint. The game was played in excellent spirits from both groups of boys. The Linnets boys were absolutely solid in the game throughout and gave the opponents no time to play football being first to every all ball. Just before half time the deadlock was broken with a great goal from Ollie Butler set up after a powerful run from Lewis Thompson who dominated in the middle of the park with his strength and power. Madrid were left frustrated throughout and rarely left their own half, leaving our goal untested which against such a strong attacking team is a massive achievement in itself. At the final whistle the underdogs on the day celebrated with tears of joy at such a terrific performance. MOM for the first time ever went to the full team as this was a performance of team grit and determination. Well done lads progressing into the quarters of the cup.

U12Yellow         The U12 lads must stop giving their coaches and parents mini heart attacks on the side lines with some iffy performances. After Tom Collins' headed opener from a Macaulay Clifton corner, the lads fell 2-1 down to visiting Rainhill but two clear penalties, won by Macca and a superb Tom Smith run, were dispatched by Macca himself either side of a Caleb Rose header to give the yellows, in the end, a comfortable 4-2 victory. Man of the match was shared by skipper Owen Bygrave and two goal hero Macca as the lads produced some excellent football at times, especially from the back, cutting open the opposition almost at will only to leave gaps at the back, leaving us vulnerable to a long hoof. Big games coming up as the season nears the home straight! Good win chaps!

GU12Yellow       Another match day and another 3 points as Linnets Girls march up to 2nd in Cheshire Girls Champions League.  Northwich were sturdy opposition but Linnets just had too much for them as goals from Macy, Callie & Amy secured the points - we even had room to miss a penalty along the way!  Northwich had their moments, bringing 3 fine one-on-one saves from our excellent GK Megan as we pushed on looking for more goals. But truth be told, without a string of magnificent stops from their own 'keeper the margin could have been much greater. Kudos to our defensive linchpin Lily, a brilliant PoM performance. bringing the ball out from the back time and again.  Again, we were excellent in all departments but the overall team performance is what made this victory so pleasing. More of the same next week, girls!

U16                      As 2nd met 3rd it was always going to be a tight game with both teams needing the win to close the gap at the top.  Linnets were to go ahead after a mix up in the BPR defence which saw the centre half head into he’s own net giving the keeper no chance.  Bpr weren't going to give up the game without a fight and this time a mix up in Linnets defence saw bpr grab an equaliser just before the half.  HT 1-1. The second half started scrappy as both teams couldn't hold onto the ball. As Linnets pushed for the win it was Linnets sub Aron who smashed his second of the season to give Linnets the lead. As the game was closing to an end another mess in defence saw Bpr grab an equaliser.  FT 2-2. Great game for the individual to watch but too many costly errors. Single point no good for both teams as they push for the top with games running out .M.O.M Aero.
