SCORES ON THE DOORS!
U7 Greens
After a couple of weeks of no action it was finally time for the u7 Greens to get back down to business against Heath Rangers Galacticos.
The pitch conditions were making it difficult for the greens who like to play a passing style of football out from the back and for a period of time they were finding it hard to get any rhythm going but eventually hard work paid off when Charlie broke the deadlock with a wonderful finish into the roof of the net and the Adam also rounded off a good move with a fine finish, followed by his now trademark dance routine which we believe his mum taught him??? What was looking like a comfortable outing for the greens soon turned around when Heath Rangers clawed a couple of goals back themselves after some cheap free kicks were given away on the edge of the linnets area, although Harrison quickly replied for the Greens when his effort found the far post and the back of the net.
The second half was like the first, scrappy in places with the boys struggling to get the passing game going and Heath rangers looking dangerous on the attack, a quick change of tactics from the managers saw Jack back at the heart of the defence to which Heath Rangers could not find a way past him. Mackenzie also managed to get on the score sheet with a late goal.
It was not a game we are used to from the Greens who at times play wonderful football but we will put it down to just being one of them days. Matthew was man of the match for his overall performance and commitment and for showing a wide range of passing.
U8 Yellows
Linnets Yellows V Cromwell Mustangs.
Linnets Yellows were back in league action once again this weekend as spring appears to be upon us now. The lads came up against a strong Cromwell side, that really knew how to work for their coaches and offer very little space to the Yellows. The lads got off to a slow start but really picked up the pace as they game went on, but clearly the winter break has left the lads with some cobwebs to blow off. Some great work from the lads resulted in some well taken goals in the first half, with Tommy getting his regular half way line goal once again!
Well done to Cooper, he was a touch of class of the bobbly pitch and had a big impact on the game, also his tracking back was first class to win the ball back. Well done lads!
Goals Scorers – Tommy x 3, Joe x 2, Cooper x1, Callum x2 MOTM – Cooper
U9 Archers
Archers v Bruche bandits
Always a tough game against what has become a bit of a bogey side for us in recent fixtures is started in typically competitive fashion with tackles flying in. Both teams cagey at first not wanting to give anything away, Archers opened the scoring when a long ball from Eneil was controlled and calmly finished by Jack. The match was end to end and soon after converting, Bruche equalised with a well taken volley from The edge of the area. Not to be deterred linnets pushed on and got themselves back in front after Jack received a pass, went past the defender and finished into the bottom corner. Jospeh, Stan and Jake were doing a fantastic job, not only with their position and tackling but with their distribution.
Second half was as equally competitive with Josh, Tom and Fin working really hard in midfield. Both teams playing good football and no quarter given. Jack ( now in goal ) passed to Joseph, down the line to James who played Eniel in one on the edge of the area and only one outcome, Eniel burying the ball in the back of the net , 3 passes from goalie to the back of the net. A long range effort from James and a superb bullet header form Joseph at the back post from a corner for the archers before Bruche pulled one back. Excellent football again saw a move of 8/9 passes which found James unmarked who placed his shot into the bottom corner.
Excellent Match that had everything , well done lads great football , great attitude , great team performance.
