U9 Archers
Runcorn linnets archers v Hurricanes
short trip this week over the bridge to Widnes to play Hurricanes
A tough physical game which saw us get hit on the counter twice to go two down very early on.
Even though we had most of the play and the better chances, we just could not find the back of the net. Fin, Thomas, jack and James all going close without testing the keeper. Had it not been for two or three good saves from Ollie, We could of found ourselves in a worse position. We did manage to pull one back just before half time after some good work, a cross from James saw the Hurricanes defender turn the ball into his own net after being put under pressure from Eniel.
Never normally ones to shy away from a battle we were just not at the races this week, which saw us concede two goals very quickly on the bounce. Suddenly the lads woke up and started to get some shots on target. A flowing move from defence to attack saw Fin finish into the bottom corer and pull one back. The lads now upped a gear but for some rushed passes and trying to do too much they could have pulled a few more back.
5 minutes to go and corner drops to Fin inside the box who volleys it straight into the back of the net. another own goal after pressure from our midfield pulled us right back into the game. Not to be outdone Hurricanes had chances themselves but once again Ollie denied them with two good saves, the second surely being the pick of the day as he saved one on one.
Not to be deterred we went again for the last push, a pass from tom to James looked dead until James nipped in front of the keeper to give it back to tom who calmly finished.
A below par performance from the boys yet they managed to somehow find the spirit to dig in and grind out a result, well done
Goals Tom and Fin
MOM Ollie truly great saves during the game.
