24/11/12 U8's v Brookvale KO 2.30 Woodside - HDJFL

A fantastic passing display from the 8s, one of the best performances we have seen this season. Goals coming from across the team 2 from William Bloomfield, a goal a piece from Alfie Hayes, Daniel Lampkin, Jack Steele, Luke Smith and josh Senior. Celebration of the season so far goes to Daniel Lampkin for his Gangam style and MoM this week went to Michael Martin for an outstanding midfield performance, passing and battling his way through the Brookvale side. Well done Linnets great game

Under 9s

24/11/12 U9's v Brookvale KO 12 Stockham Ref: Stephen Butler (Didn't show)- HDJFL

Linnets V Brookvale, what a great result for the 9s winning 5 - 2 convincingly knocking Brooky off the top of the table to become the leaders with a game in hand. Last season the team played better football than Brooky but got out muscled, this year they Brooky couldn't get the ball off the 9s. The team is making great progress the lads dug deep, although starting really bright they went a goal down after 10 mins, but Linnets carried on passing keeping the ball, the equalizer came from a corner Bradley Smith curling it near post, the keeper couldn't deal with it. 1-1 and Linnets grew stronger, 2 mins later some great passing left to right back to centre for Fenton Gibbons to use a little magic before slotting the ball home 2- 1. Linnets changed shape and brought Ethan Taburn on up front and Brookvale couldn't live with him,  the 3rd goal was again well worked with Joe Last finishing with a lob, 3 - 1 half time, second half similar to the first Linnets playing all the footy but Brookvale digging in, Ethan Taburn then bagged a well earned goal, 4 - 1, Brookvale scored a second with a long through ball catching our defence out and their striker finishing nicely, 4-2. The game was still with Linnets and a win was never  in doubt at this stage and Owen Lunt finished the game with a stunning volley 5-2. All in all a great team performance playing the better football and winning the battles too. MoM was Ethan Taburn for clever movement upfront creating space, bringing midfield into the game and an all round nightmare for the Brooky defence, well done team all brilliant!

Under 10s

24/11/12 U10's v Palacefields KO 1.30 Stockham Ref: Stephen Butler (Didn't show again!) - HDJFL

A solid performance from the 10s saw them leap to the top of the table with games to play. A greatly strengthened and much improved Palacefields hadn’t come to make it easy for Linnets and put in a great shift but Linnets went ahead after a clever through ball from Ben Hough split the Palo defence in two for Ethan Olubodun to sprint onto and coolly slot 1st time on the turn past the keeper. Both teams had chances to score but it was Linnets who got the 2nd after a stunning solo goal from Owen Bygrave 2-0. Palo managed to pull one back after a Linnets mistake gifted them a chance which they took. 2-1 and 3 valuable points. MoM was Jorje Orme for an outstanding performance.

Under 13s

24/11/12 U13's v Pavilion Piraahanas KO 10.30 Heath Park Ref: Andy Prescott - HDJFL

Pavilions Piranhas 4-2 Linnets. (Sam Braniff 1, Luca 1). Linnets quick out the blocks took an early lead and looking good for a win. Pavilions fought back hard and pressured an inexperienced Linnets defence for 25mins scoring 3 goals. Linnets finally got a foothold in the game and scored just before HT to make it 2-3. Second half an early mistake the team conceded again causing a huge set back but Linnets fought on and controlled the game in midfield. Linnets created enough chances to win but tough defending and great goalkeeping kept Linnets at bay. Unlucky boys, but that little bit of quality is needed when it matters. MoM - Ellis Campbell for leading the team like a true Captain.
