02/02/13 U6's v Albright Juniors KO 10.30 Speke - Friendly
The new kids on the block kicked off their 1st ever game against a very well organised Albrights side away in Speke.
All of the team had a run out and a taste of match experience. Congratulations to Jake Malem who scored the only Linnets goal. The lads really enjoyed it, who's next?

03/02/13 U7's v Pagemoss Roundabout KO 10.30 Little Heath P1 - M&HJFL
A well fought draw against Huyton’s Pagemoss Roundabout. The game started off with Linnets taking the lead with a well placed shot from Lucas Ramsden. A second half goal from Bailey Austin and a fine strike from Leighton Stanley meant the scores finished level. MoM went to Charlie Fisher for an outstanding performance both in defence and midfield. Well done boys.

02/02/13 U8's v Beechwood Juniors KO 1.30 Haddocks Wood - HDJFL
A good team performance resulting in a lot of chances all over the pitch, the bad pitch didn’t help in converting them. However Linnets goals were scored by: Jack Steele (1) and joint MoM Ethan Hansen and Alfie Hayes both scored a brace each. A good solid team performance.

02/02/13 U9's v Pavilions Park U9's CUP KO 12 Stockham Fields Ref: James Watkinson Turner - HDJFL
Linnets v Pavillions in the U9s Cup semi final, Linnets cruised into the Final of the U9s cup with a 8-0 win in the semi. Pavillions however dug in deep and it took us 12 mins to get the breakthrough, and what a goal it was! Ethan breaking through from the half way line and hitting a thunderous shot into the roof off the net (Roy of the Rovers stuff ) once we got the first goal the rest started to follow. Ethan was on fire scoring 4 crackers, Joe Last was on the score sheet again, Fenton Gibbons chipped in with 2 very well taken goals and Luis our keeper came out for the last 10 mins and scored a great strikers goal, Ryan was solid in defence and Harry Davis was instrumental in everything Linnets did outstanding, Fenton won the battle in midfield and covered every blade of grass and was duly voted MoM by Pavillions manager although Harry Davis did brilliant as well. All the boys were fantastic and I'm so proud of them let's hope we can bring some more silverware to the Linnets collection.

02/02/13 U10's v Brookvale KO 1.30 Stockham Anthony Smith - HDJFL
After a scrappy first 10 mins Linnets took control of the half and the rest of the game, running out comfortable 7-0 winners against an improving Brookvale side. Goals from: Tom Collins (2), Jorje Orme (2) and one each from Niall Roberts, Ben Hough and Zac Lowe. MoM was awarded to Tom Smith who was outstanding in defence.
03/02/13 U10's v Kingsthorne KO 9.30 Frederick Lunt - M&HJFL
Linnets controlled most the 1st half and ran Kingsthorne ragged with great movement and one and two touch passing but 3 very costly mistakes one after another gifted Kingsthorne 3 chances which they took. 3-0 down at half time but the lads were confident they could bounce back. 2nd half was all Linnets and again for large periods of the half Kingsthorne just couldn’t get on the ball as the lads popped it about the pitch. Jorge Dwyer chipped home from a tight angle, Tom Collins blasted a trademark thunderbolt in off a defender from the edge of the area and sniffer Zac Lowe poked home from after the keeper fumbled an Owen Bygrave shot. MoM could have gone anywhere but Ben Hough just edged it for pulling the strings from the wing and excellent defensive covering when needed. 3-3 final score, a great game of football and boys your attitude at was a credit to you all.

02/02/13 U12's v Pavilion Pumas KO 10.30 Ref: Sam Abbott - HDJFL
A slow start for Linnets with it only being their 5th game of the season and their first game for 2 months. First half ended 2-2 but a great half time team talk saw Linnets come into the second half stronger and wanting the win more than their opponents. Great goals from Mark Bonello, Brodie Welsh, Louis Nickson, Jack McGrogan and a hatrick for Josh Mills. Final score pumas 4 - 7 Linnets. MoM Hatrick hero Josh Mills. A great first game of 2013 for the under 12's, starting the year as we mean to go on.

02/02/13 U13's v HRBL KO 10.30 Heath Park Ref: Matthew Harrison - HDJFL
Game PP by the ref.
03/02/13 U13's v The Venny KO 11.15 Arncliffe Centre - MHJFL
Linnets 0-0 Venny, a very strong performance by the 13s, defending superbly and creating a few chances first half, including a very suspect disallowed goal. Second half a shaky start with Venny hitting the bar, but last 20 minutes was dominated by Linnets resolute defending with a few great chances to score and a huge penalty shout not given for a clear trip on Adam Hughes one on one with the keeper. Strongest performance of the M&H season so far. MoM - Jamie Coakley who didn't put a foot wrong all game, showing good concentration and positioning throughout.

02/02/13 U14's v St Michaels KO 12 Halton Sports Ref: Shaun Ivison - HDJFL
Runcorn Linnets 7-2 St Michael’s. Having not played a game in over two weeks Linnets could be excused for starting slowly but instead they were two up in ten minutes goals from Aero and Matty Uns. Two more before half time from Mikey Helps and Linnets were in a comfortable lead. The second half St Mikes struck first but super sub Jacko came off the bench again to score Linnets 5th that's 2 in 2 for Mike. 5-1 and a lapse in concentration gave St Mikes their second. Captain Mat then grabbed his second and then finished the game off getting his hat trick from the spot. Didn't play our best today lads but that is a sign if a great team.
