Under 7s Archers

30/11/13 v Heath Rangers KO 1.30 Halton Sports – HDJFL

Straight from the off the boys got at the opposition.  Playing their best football this year we restricted Heath rangers to 1 or two chances in the first half and went in on top at the interval.

Second half was much the same with the away team scoring a couple of early goals against the run of play. This didn’t phase the lads and they continued to play and stick the ball in the net. A fantastic Team effort, well done boys, keep up the good work. Goals from James (4) Jake (2), Issac (1), Fin (1) Jack (1). MoM went to Jake Malem.

Under 7s Mads

30/11/13 v Brookvale Utd KO 12 Halton Sports  – HDJFL

Mads scored more goals than Brookvale

Under 8s

17/11/13 v Athletico Woolton KO 9.30 Caldway Drive – Reggie Smith Cup Rnd 1

30/11/13 v Athletico Woolton KO TBC Jubilee Park – BVJFL

The only instruction given to the U8's was to make a decision for themselves to "pass or dribble". The game started with the 8's playing some neat and tidy football, starting from Sam in goal right through the team to James Walsh up front who opened the scoring from close range. The boys continued to try and do the right things and are becoming more expressive in there play and  learning it doesn't matter if it goes wrong as long as they keep trying. Linnets added a couple more goals and Woolton themselves got on the score sheet despite the best efforts of Sam Bignall who made some great saves. Some more good team play by Linnets with the strikers working together whilst being supported on both wings and in defence. You can start to see some of the work done in training being put into practice, as the boys are starting to play with more freedom. Great sportsmanship was shown by all the lads who split playing time equally. Just a final word on the quality of the ref who not only let the game flow but also educated both sets of players as the game went on and gave feedback to them on his decisions which gave the boys a greater understanding of the game, great work by him.

Under 9s Sat

30/11/13 v Grange FC Lions KO 10.30 Grange Sports & Social Club – WDJFL

Linnets faced an unbeaten Grange side in a top of the table clash. Linnets played some fantastic football and were up at half time. Goals from Alfie Hayes (2) Michael Martin and Bradley Lucas one each. Second half Linnets knew Grange would come out fighting but the team held strong to keep Grange at bay. MoM went to two players for two different halves  of football.  1st half attacking Bradley Lucas caused all sorts of problems and 2nd half Luke "The Wall" Smith was solid at the back to keep them out. Fantastic again from the lads

Under 9s Sun

01/12/13 v Albright Griffins KO 11.30 Arncliffe – MHJFL

Battle of the towns on Sunday saw linnets face an inform Albrights side. First 5 mins of the game was hard fought battle resulting in the ref setting the standard for this feisty encounter. Albrights took the lead in the first half with a shot from nothing finding the back of the Linnets net. The lads got their  heads up and dug in going on the break with chance after chance to level only to be denied by an outstanding Albrights keeper.  Second half and with Linnets playing lovely football the reward was gained from a Alfie Hayes throw to find Luke “Smudger” Smith turn his marker and slot it StevieG like into the bottom right corner game level ay 1 a piece. Both sides battling till the final whistle and the clock ticking away bragging rights went to both sides in a very entertaining match. Cracking game of football and well done to all the boys

30/11/13 v Heath Rangers KO 10.30 Halton Sports – U12s District Cup

This weekend proved that football is a crazy game, the 12s District Cup match was probably our worst performance of the season but we were able to win 3-1 pretty comfortably and progress to the next round.

01/12/13 v  Christleton Newscene KO 2 away – CDJFL

Facing the best team about at our age group Christleton, the lads were superb from start to finish dominating the game for large periods and taking a well deserved lead, the rest of the game was end to end with Christleton taking their chances well and running out 3-1 winners. Although they would have had no complaints if they have got nothing from the game. Really proud of the attitude and commitment of our lads though it's great to see.
