We started of very scrappy in the first 5 min then soon found are feet.
Some fantastic one touch football from the boys time and time again.
The boys surprised us in places like they had been together for years.
We brought are goalie out Luke for 10min and put him in defence and what a job he done don't think anyone got past him. All boys give 110% well done.
Mom cooper norton what a top performance very unselfish lad.
Scorers
Curly 3, Kersuez 2, Reechino 2, Jake Neil 2, Super Dan 1, Saint Coop 2.
Under 7’s Green
Vs Heath Rangers Porto
Greens started well again putting early pressure on their opponents but had to wait for our rewards but with some good saves from Daniel Grogan who saved a penalty and missed opportunities it was a good game for the neutral to watch we soon got our rewards with goals from Tom Rigby, Logan Robinson, and Joe Thorpe another great team performance 🙂 MOM Cody Cunliffe

Under 8’s Archers
Vs Runcorn Linnets Mads
Another derby game against Mads 🙂
Mads scored first after a scramble I the box
After that the lads really went to town passing and moving
First goal was a result of some excellent football played on the floor
Second goal much of the same as Archers played it out from the back
Third goal again 8/9 passes saw us go in up at half time
Second half we continued with the good football and Mads keeper having an excellent game keeping out numerous efforts
Mads scored 2 quick goals
The third a worldly and the last few minutes were end to end with both teams having a chance to win it

Under 10’s H&D
Vs Pex Hill Rangers
"Caretaker manager Mike Lloyd and his glamorous assistant Chris Hicks were placed in temporary charge of the weekend’s eagerly awaited fixture against local rivals and tough opposition Pex Hill Rangers. Following a logistical nightmare and a potential banana skin at being sent to the wrong location, warrior spirit was in abundance and demonstrated by no one better than the ferocious (but loveable) Jodie McDonald, today was a day for warrior spirit!!. The boys arrived at a capacity filled Prescot Road, running out onto the pitch in a single file formation to a chorus of boos reminiscent of a gladiatorial theatre and to the sound of Pretender by the Foo Fighters. Dual captains for the day Josh McDonald and Nathan Mcloud had the manager’s instructions still ringing in their ears and were visibly vocal from the first whistle, commanding and directing wave after wave of attack on the Pex Hill Goalkeeper. The breakthrough come when a barnstorming run from Harlee Lloyd from within his own half was rewarded with a goal worthy of a champions league final best goals compilation DVD. Harlee in typical fashion ran back the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the solitary dog walker and fictitious North stand. Nathan McLeod was impressive throughout, dominating each and every tackle which prompted several sharp intakes of breath from either side. Goal number 2 followed soon after from the irrepressible Lewis Thompson in typical Ian Rush fashion, slotted away from 2 yards, a reward for his constant and persistent first line of attack and defence which was displayed throughout. With instructions of more of the same following half time, the on watching Real Madrid coach Paul Clement was convinced Cristiano Ronaldo was playing on the right hand side of midfield, but no...That was our Jack Cresswell who touched the ball more times in 20 seconds then the Opta Index could register. Ollie Butler was replaced by the dogged Tobey Lamph who won everything around him today, and was quickly escorted away by UK anti doping for immediate testing following suspicion of his amazing efforts on the left hand side of midfield. The game reminiscent of Great Liverpool and Everton Derby's of yesteryear was being played in front of everyone's eyes. Josh McDonald at the heart of the team’s creativity scored the third from a thunderbolt of a free kick which almost set the goal on fire and threatened to break the back of the net. Pex Hill got a small consolation at the end, but had several efforts on goal saved by MoM and former Pex Hill Superstar Lewis Owen who's last line of defence mentality with displays of Jason Statham in The Mean Machine were legendary. The final whistle came with the boys being greeted by legends Butler, Cresswell, McDonald, Owen, Lloyd and Chairman Ellison's seal of approval, with genuine aspiration and hope that the inaugural season could end in silverware for the boys in yellow and green!
Under 10’s Warr
NO GAME
No league game this weekend so friendly organised against flint town academy. Linnets got off to a flying start against some of the best kids in North Wales. And although there was a wobble during the game linnets turned their style on with the last 15 being a linnets master class. Goals came from, Ethan Hansen 2, Josh senior 2 and Michael martin. MoM went to 3 individuals, firstly Ethan Hansen, not only for his goals but also his brilliant midfield play. Second to jack Steele, who read the game fantastic and battled all the way. Third mom again always willing to battle and as the oppositions manager stated "he would get in your shin pads if he could" and also the fact he kept his position well and always a option for his team mate, Andrew "Sniffer" law
Under 10’s M&H
Vs Old Xaverians Jags
A blustery Sunday morning saw Linnets take on a very physical Jags side who never let Linnets get into their rhythm. However Linnets matched the physicality of the Jags and it was MoM Jack Steele who epitomised this. His timely interceptions and reading of the game was to thwart the Jags offensive line on several occasions. Alfie (safe hands) Hayes, again showed his quality between the sticks by making some impressive saves. Ethan Hansen continued in his rich grain of form with another fine strike.
Under 10’s FUTSAL
Vs Woolton Flyers
Goal scorers today Josh Crockett 3, Finley Maher 1. A very quick start by Linnets futsal, attacking display with Josh, Harvey and Joe all creating chances for the constant threat Emlyn was causing. Emlyn was attacking the Woolyon defence throughout and almost scoring on a few occasions. Emlyn’s development has been incredible, really causing opposition defenders trouble every game. Linnets break through came from the amazing Josh Crockett smashing high into the net after a mazy run. Defensively Finley was the rock of the team, sweeping up all that came his way, with Cresswell really pulling the strings in centre midfield. Linnet’s futsal offensive style worked perfectly, heading into the halftime with a hat trick from Josh. Second half Linnets shifted style and after a good 10minute spell of pressure the Linnets defence held strong with Callum and Cresswell in now typical calm fashion, sweeping up and following up with almost 100% pass completion ratio for their time on the pitch. Finley bagged his 2nd goal of the season with a fine 2nd half performance, his strength and dominance crucial in squeezing in a close range shot with power to complete the scoring. MOM - Joe Stevenson for a commanding midfield performance, persistence in closing down, backed up with quality passing on the ball. Fantastic efforts, willingness to learn and improve, and crucially very positive parents support each game, well done all.

Vs Rainhill Warriors & Chester Nomads
Great win for linnets 13s yellow against Chester nomads, the team performed well from the first minute pressing the ball all over the pitch then showing great quality whilst in possession, the lads ran out 5-0 winners with some superb goals
Under 13’s Green
Vs St Marks Athletic
Our first game against a 14s team and the kids started slowly and paid the price conceding an early goal and giving the early belief to St Marks.
Big test of character for us to shrug off the disappointment of the early set back and go again. We found our feet and scored 6 in what remained of the first half. Luke bagged a great hat trick, Kieran got a rare goal with a sweet strike with Josh and Reece completing the scoring.
Man of the match came from a non-scoring player, Jake, who was involved in everything at the point of the midfield diamond
Under 14’s
Vs Winwick Athletic
A hard thought victory for Linnets U14s today against a stubborn Winwick Athletic Warriors who just wouldn't go away a below par performance by Linnets almost made us drop are first points of the season but like the saying goes the sign of a great team is winning a game when you’re not at your best and that's what we did today the difference between the two teams was man of the match Eden Gumbs with 2 great strikes.
