Under 10’s H&D

Vs BPR Leira

Top performance for u10 H&D, by far there best performance of the season so far. Faced a very good and cup finalist BPR Liera. We started with a quick attack that narrowly scraped the post from a long range effort from Tobey Lamph on the right wing. Normally a defender Tobey looked impressive playing well on both wings during the course of the game. For first few minutes we dominated with waves after wave of attack only for BPR to score against the run of play. The boys however bounced back and piled pressure with powerful and pacey attacking football. A well worked equaliser from Ollie Butler within minutes was a perfect response prompting a shiny shoe celebration. Josh McDonald rattled the post on several occasions and got his reward just before the break when he was awarded a free kick about 20 yards out, which was struck into the top corner with what can only be described as a rocket of a free kick that nearly bust the net. The linnet’s boys dominated for the rest of the game. Lewis Thompson lead from the front with power and determination throughout and was rewarded when he slotted in the third when their keeper let spill of a long range Nathan McLeod effort. Our lads just keep getting better and better. I must also mention an amazing performance from keeper Lewis Owen who bossed his box and never put a foot wrong. Although he didn't have to do too much with a solid defensive performance from Harlee Lloyd and Nathan McLeod building a wall in front of him his handling from corners and a great free kick save had a huge impact on the team’s confidence. A pure team performance was on show today. MoM went to an outstanding Josh McDonald who looks like he has magic on his boots ATM and looked dangerous all game and bossed the midfield linking up well with winger Jack Cresswell who didn't make a stray pass all game.  Manager, parents and confident happy players 😉

Under 10’s FUTSAL

Vs Albrights Griffiths

A tough fixture against a team who could certainly score goals!!! Linnets were surprisingly slow out the blocks this week, going behind to an unfortunate OG within the first minute, and shortly after with a nervy mistake in defence. Linnets were rattled but slowly settled into the game. New signing Liam was solid in defence tackling strong and passing the ball out very well with signs of becoming a brilliant wingback, with the ever present Callum putting in another steady shift. The midfield engine was dangerous going forward through fast paced attacks from Josh and Joe with Emlyn scrapping away up front.  Albrights were solid and dangerous thought the first half but Harvey scored a very classy goal, with a quick drop of the shoulder and slotting past the superb keeper. Second half Linnets played a more offensive style trying to recover the Futsal style we were missing. Cresswell once again shining in his defensive midfield role got the Linnet’s back in the flow of the team’s offensive nature, slotting Harvey in and Josh on a few occasions only to be denied by the keeper. Albrights took advantage of Linnets offensive nature with a counter attack goal. Late in the game the brilliant Bradley who influenced a positive reaction from the team, was on form with his tricky feet, he wad rewarded with some luck when a long range shot bounced awkwardly past the keeper, shortly after Josh went on a now typical Messi like run past 4 players to poke home a fantastic goal after Albrights scored a few fantastic 2nd half goals. Lesson learned...defending is about being in the right place at the right time. Linnets already looking forward to a re-match... MOM - Alex Shannon, for a fantastic goalkeeping performance keeping the score respectful when Linnets could have crumbled. Linnets Scorers Harvey, Brad, Josh

Vs Victoria Colts

U13s had a tough test in the last 16 of the Cheshire cup away to very good side Victoria colts ( camellairds ) we started the game superbly with ollie service twice breaking clear and clinically finishing both times superbly to put us two up , to the credit of Victoria that reacted brilliantly as a top side would and  got themselves back in the game with two quick goals one of them a slightly dubious pen !! Our boys responded brilliantly with an all round team effort with every single player playing there part , the decisive minute came 15 minutes from the end with the impressive olly service getting his rewards for bouncing up from some rough treatment and grabbing the winner to complete his hat trick . I'm sure all at the game would agree that every player deserves praise for a great team performance,  on to the next round we go to the last eight  in the biggest competition we can play in at this level . Very proud manager

A great team performance today in a frantic cup game against a team two divisions above us in the league and we didn't look out of place from the moment the whistle blew to the final whistle we gave our all fought like lions and created a lot of great chances and played the football we've delivered all season in the end we were unlucky to lose 4-3 but I'm so proud of our lads today they mixed it with the big boys and showed them where we deserved to be MOM Brad Edwards is continuing to improve every week in goal well done lads superb effort.
