SCORES ON THE DOORS!

U7Yellow      The last home game of the season at Halton Sports for the Yellows matched them up the Linnets Greens, just a few weeks ahead of the eagerly anticipated Spring Cup game against the Greens!  The game kicked off with the Greens flying out the blocks against the Yellows, they were clearly really up for the game, and managed to put a great amount of pressure against the Yellows, who could only manage a few slick counter attacking moves but were unable to find the finish for the move. Greens took a deserved lead in the game direct from the corner spot! The goal seemed to awaken the Yellows from the unusual slow start, and they managed to pull a quick equaliser out the bag from an unfortunate own goal.  A few wise words at half time from the Yellows coaches, seemed to regain their focus for the second half, that saw Yellows find their recent good form once again, with some stunning strikes outside the area. Overall both Linnets sides put on a great footballing display, and played in the true Linnets spirit….. roll on the Cup final! Goal Scorers Callum Kerswell x3, Tommy Loyden x2, Reece Perry x2, MOTM Tommy Loyden

U7Blue       This is the performance we've all been waiting for!! The whole seasons work squeezed into this 40 minutes......the kids were fantastic!!

Kai Cairns continued his emergence as one of the best keepers in the league with some great decision making and bravery. You would never of known he started out life as an outfield player when you see him commanding his area. He offers the reassurance and confidence to everyone in front of him! Sam Dimelow enhanced his reputation as defensive enforcer and also added an attacking threat to his repertoire. Bombing down the wing and delivering the ball into dangerous areas, a joy to see!! Led by example, a true captains performance!.......Vinny Farrington delivered the performance he's been threatening in training for weeks. Slick, incisive passing cutting the Heath defense apart without them even knowing it's happened. Vinny also naturally fell into defence when His skipper attacked which showed great maturity and positional understanding! Frankie Gilbert stepped up to the plate and gave the kind of performance that have people raving about him. Pace, power and persistence put Heath kids firmly in their place and enhanced Frankies already big reputation. Attacking and defending when his team needed him, almost faultless display from our dazzling midfielder!......James Routledge was asked to push into a more advanced role and he did so with consummate ease. Whenever he received the ball there was an air of anticipation from the crowd and fear from the Heath kids. Step overs, drag backs and tigerish aggression led to an inspired display befitting of a boy we hold in very high esteem!!......Abi Cassidy dropped into midfield initially and did so with a great attitude. Demonstrating strength beyond her years and gender she bullied and hassled her opponents at every opportunity. This along with working hard for her team meant Abi had her best game for linnets in a long while......well done Abi :-).......Koby McDonald did as he always does. Floating around the park looking for pockets of space which other kids can't track he was rewarded with a neat finish to seal the end of a truly brilliant performance.

Coaches and parents alike don't want this season to end now after that performance......on wards we march!!

Goals from James x 2, vinny and Koby. Mom James 🙂

U8Mads            As a result of sickness the Mads took to the field with just the bare team of 5, not for the first time this season the boys have found themselves in this position but like on the previous occasions they stepped up to the mark .  The last league game of the season started with the Mads taking the game to the opposition HRBL EAGLES from start to finish the whole game was a flurry of shots, goalmouth scrambles, corners and Goals !  with Lennon a spectator in the first half as Josh marshaled from the back Aaron & Freddie competed for every ball in midfield and Ethan turned their great work into a flurry of goals up front.  Half time  saw the Mads go in with a 6 goal's  Ethan 4  Aaron 1 & Freddie 1.  Second half saw another relentless performance from the boys with Freddie taking the keepers jersey and Lennon having a run out, also getting his name on the score sheet, second half goals Josh 2, Lennon 1 Ethan 2 , Freddie  1 & Aaron 1   the boys performance was uplifting a relentless pursuit of the ball, great passing moves and countless efforts on goal but for the brilliance of the EAGLES keeper the score could of been even higher a great end to Mads season and the perfect way to prepare for the Cup Final on May 6th at Pavilions  Mom Ethan

U8Archers        Match report SLB v Archers Under 8

Alas the final league game of the season.  A competitive match enjoyed by both sides saw chances at either end in the first few minutes SLB goalkeeper was on top form as he denied Archers on several occasions.  Break through finally came from a long throw in, knocked down in the area and scored by James. Quick goals then followed from James, fin, Isaac, Thomas, eneil, Jake and Joseph ( that’s 4 in 4 for our defensive enforcer) which saw archers go in ahead at the break. Not to be beaten by his defensive partner in crime Jack scored a contender for goal of season after the break, as he volleyed in from 20 yards soon after the restart.  SLB created a number of chances early on in the second half but Archers defence stood strong, On a big pitch both teams tired and goals followed from Isaac, Fin, Thomas, James, A wonderful atmosphere for the game with both teams passing the ball around and played in the right spirit.  Both teams deserve credit not only for the effort they put in during the game, but also  for the effort they have put in over the season, keep up the hard work lads

U9Green              A really strong performance from the boys today, who kept fighting right to the end. If it wasn't for a Runcorn Town player having the game of his life the outcome could have been different. Give credit to the opposition where due, their passing was neat and tidy and the finishing clinical. A lot of positives can be taken from the match, we improve every week and will do so continuously. GU10Yellow        Last game of the season on Saturday where we played a good Chester and district.
We out chased them with a superb team performance and we was all outstanding with some superb goals
2 from Annabelle and a cracking goal from Claudia from the corner flag ( Claudia is our keeper she played out for the second half ) Well done girls

Player of the Match Annabelle

GU10Blue             An early start at Moss Farm for the final game of the season for the Blues to cap off what has been a very impressive first season for the girls. A tough game awaited against Bradwell and the Blues got off to a slow start, Bradwell who have impressed all season pressed and put the Blues under some early pressure. But in true Blues style the Blues organised themselves and started to challenge and battle for every ball. Every player chased the ball down and looked to make it difficult for Bradwell. Player of the match Demi Gaskin showed tremendous character and came out of goal in the second half to make an excellent contribution in defence.  The Blues continue to show grit and determination and some good football and can only keep improving on this performance. Goal scorer: Jessica Radin x 1

U16                     Linnets 1-2 Penlake. Its was a fitting end to a challenging season as 1st met 2nd in the final.  It was to be myself and Neils final game in coaching and the lads we're going to give us everything they had as they dominated the first half and a fantastic finish by boydy saw Linnets lead at half time 1-0. The second half Linnets had Penlake on the ropes but just couldn't find the second goal to finish them off. Haven't been second best for over an hour penlake we're to be gifted a free kick which matty could only push onto the bar and a penlake player tapped in the equaliser. 1-1 and the game became more open as both teams now pushed for the win and it was penlake who were to snatch it with a well taken finish. FT 2-1. M.O.M. Niall..  The game  of football we all love can sometimes be cruel as the best team cant always win.  As a manager I am so proud of the whole team this season and its been a pleasure to coach them.  Good luck to all the lads which ever path they choose next season.  Ste 'proud gaffer' ....
