SCORES ON THE DOORS!

U7 Yellows

This was our lads first ever league match and they played superbly well. They carried their impressive pre season form into the start of the season and there was many terrific goals scored. The way our lads played the game made it very hard for our opponents Irlam Vale Ninja's. Myself and James Callander along with the parents were very proud of the lads and we're all looking forward to next week. Well done Luca on receiving Man of the match and well done all the lads for a great game

U7 Blacks

Linnets Blacks Vs Heath Rangers

The first away game for the newly formed Linnets Blacks, and what a stunning Saturday morning it was..... if only all the season was like this for the weather! The boys arrived buzzing for another game in their fledgling football careers at Runcorn Linnets, and it was great to see the smiles last all morning.

The boys came up against a strong Heath Rangers side, and both sides knowing each other well with back to back games to start the season, our boys worked their socks off and really tried to put their training sessions in practice and did their managers and parents proud. We played some great football on the break and creating some great chances, but credit to the Heath Rangers keeper he was on fine form. The second half saw us fall a few goals behind but credit to the lads they battled like hell and were rewarded to a penalty, this was sweetly tucked away by Max. There was also some great play from Kaeden who played some lovely through balls to see Bobbie sweep home a brace of goals.

Overall the boys were brilliant, they just get better and better every week, 2 very proud coaches this weekend. Well done to Kai for being MOTM, superb play.

Girls U9 Yellows

Girls U9 Yellow's had a tournament this weekend before there league starts next week. The girls performed outstanding, working as a team they passed the ball really well and never gave up. The willingness they all showed on the pitch was great to watch. We all had a laugh at the Hartford tournament and are looking forward to starting are season now next weekend. #YellowsOnFire

U9 Yellows

Runcorn Linnets Yellow’s Under 9’s started their Warrington Junior League campaign with a home game against Billinge Athletic. Manager Sean Gaskill had the luxury of an entire 11 man squad to choose from for the game which including a Yellows league debut for new boy, Jack. All-rounder Callum donned the captain’s armband as recognition for not only his team play but his commitment to the cause. It didn’t take long for the hosts to find their rhythm with nice forward play from Jack, Cooper, Callum and Joe. The defensive pairing of Dan and Jacob allowed such creativity in front of them, the latter sat allowing Dan to join in with the attacks when possible. Such is the strength in depth of the squad when changes were made half way through the half the flowing football continued thanks to the creativity of Tommy and Reece, alongside the engine and determination of Oscar. Both goal keepers of Dexter and Luke showed alertness when needed.

Overall the performance of the team was good and it’s hard to fault the boys after that score line in their opening game. As always the management will seek improvements week after week as we strive together to learn, develop and achieve as a team.

Linnets goal scorers: Dan 6, Joe 4, Jack 3, Tommy 2, Recce 1, Dexter 1, Cooper 1.

MoM: Dan

Shout out: Jack, for 3 goals and 4 assists on his league debut

U12 Yellows

1st game of the season done an dusted v Crossfields and what a game it was. Grudge match for both sides following a feisty encounter last season which seen 1 red card and a 0-0 draw. A superb performance from the lads creating lots of opportunities to take the lead but Crossfields went 1 up to the good. Half time seen the lads coming out with a vengeance.  Stepping up our game, winning the ball and putting Crossfields on the back foot. Corner for the boys and Booooommmmm filip(couhtinio)Glubisz slotted it home to level it at 1-1. Every player taking the MOM accolade from the keeper to the striker and a die hard never up performance. Well done linnets

U12 Greens

Off to winning ways, 6-1 winners on the day, great team performance.  goals scorers Hat-trick hero Mekhi, 2 for Harlee and one for Lewis O. Mom could have gone to several players and was a hard one to call but was given jointly to Ollie who continues to terrorize teams with his pace, skill and effort was involved one way of another in nearly all goals, the second went to Josh, who bossed the middle with a great positive attitude that lead by example with his effort and determination to win every ball.

U12 Blues

The new under 12s Sunday Blue team had their first league game today.

Linnets' new under 12s Sunday Blue team began life in the Chester and District JFL top flight with bang on Sunday, beating one of last season's title challengers Urmston Pumas 1-0.

A battling performance on a baking  hot day was capped off by a last minute winner by Joshua Oakes, firing home the rebound after Bob Martin's angle drive had been parried by Urmston's goalkeeper following a slide rule pass out wide by Josh Senior. The last gasp effort secured a deserved victory, with Linnets playing the better football and creating more goal scoring opportunities.  All of the boys worked their socks off and showed a lot of character in persevering against a strong Upton defence, But newly-named skipper Luke Smith stood out as the man of the match, marshaling the defence extremely well and pulling off a number of well-timed, bone-crunching tackles before performing equally well between the sticks after putting his hand up to answer a goalkeeping SOS in the second half.

A great start to what will hopefully be a great season.

U15 Greens
