U7s v The Venny - MHJFL
A great game of football today against a very good Venny side, both teams played some great stuff at times with only one goal separating them. Linnets Leighton Stanley superbly curled the ball into the roof of the net from a free kick. MOM went to the excellent Nathan Mercer was a menace all game. Special mentions to Lucas Ramsden who ran his little socks off and also to Sam Bignall who was superb in goal for us today. Overall another great game of football . Well done boys :).

U9 v Dunlops - HDJFL
Another big win for linnets U9's beating 5th placed Dunlops 8 – 0. Linnets were always in control of the game but still weren't firing on all cylinders. At break Linnets led 4 – 0. Second half we passed the ball much better and looked really good. Goal: Ethan Taburn (4), Elis Newby (1), Joe Last (2) and Bradley Smith (1). Brads also picked up the MoM award, big shouts out to Luis in goal who has improved so much, Harry Davis for getting us on the attack from defence and Fenton who must have been less than half the size of the lad he was marking and out muscled him every time. Well done boys, nearly there but a few more wins needed.
Under 10s
Firstly a big shout out to the 10s versatile Jaiden Patel who had an appendix operation last week and is now set to miss the next 6-8 weeks. Get well soon Jay from all the team
U10 v Tricorn Athletic – HDJFL
9-0 win for the 10s. After being 1-0 up at half time Linnets moved through the gears in the 2nd half playing some quality free flowing football and scored another 8 goals which quite easily could have been more except for some good goal keeping. Goals from: Jorje Dwyer (2), Ben Hough (1), Ethan Olubodun (1), Owen Bygrave (1), Niall Roberts (1), OGs (2) and Tom Smith (1). MoM went to stand in Captain Owen Bygrave for a great individual and team performance.
U10 v Huyton Juniors – MHJFL
With Linnets having now found their feet in this tough league they picked up 3 points with a 2-1 win over a battling Huyton Juniors. Linnets played some really good football and really should have been out of sight. Linnets again looked solid at the back with Niall and Deano working tirelessly but it was Luke Hayes who picked up MoM for another outstanding shift at the heart of the Linnets defence. Goals: A left foot blaster from Ben Hough opened the scoring and sniffer Tom Smith rammed home a parried Tom Collins drive.

U11s v Newton - CDJFL
11s dropped points against Newton going down 2-1 hindered by some poor refereeing.

U12 v Weston Point Titans - HDJFL U12s Cup Semi Final.
Today's match was a close game, Titans playing in their first Semi Final and were well up for it pushing Linnets hard. A well fought game with a lot of hard work and some excellent football played, resulted in Linnets winning 2-1. Both Linnets goals coming from Mark Bonello. On into another final for the under 12's for the second season on the bounce, well done lads!! MoM Jack Taylor (keeper).
Under 13s
U13 v Wolves - HDJFL
2-5 win for Linnets. Goals from: Liam, Dylan, Joe Turner Matty and Sean. A gritty first half with Wolves fighting hard against Linnets going in at the break 2-2. The highlight being a 35yard lob by Liam Stevenson after a poor goalkeepers clearance making it 1-0 . Second half Linnets passed their way through Wolves comfortably with style, scoring 3 more. MoM - Adam Hughes for his relentless battling in midfield, a brilliant season so far for the young midfield maestro.
Under 14s
U14 v Heath Rangers – HDJFL
A Linnets 6-2 win over Heath Rangers. with only eleven lads to choose from the squad had to work hard for the points today. Captain Mat was to get the first from a long throw from Sam, Mikey Jackson was to get the second and goal of the game as he chipped the keeper from 25yards. Heath got themselves back in the game from ANOTHER corner. 2 – 1 but Linnets were in no mood to throw the game away and scored some great goals in the second half from Aero, Dan (2) and Mat saw us take a comfortable 6-1 lead. Rangers did grab a consolation at the end but the game was won by then. A big test of character today lads with us being short of bodies. Well done! MoM went to Sam another valuable 3 points. Get well soon Cal, Ryan and Mat Holmes hope to have you all back next week.
