Good to see nearly every player getting on the score sheet and the team playing great football even when individuals were placed in different positions. Well done team.

Under 9s

The new look 9's got off to a flyer with a convincing 10 – 0 win against HRBL , there was some great football played at a high tempo. The 9s looked dangerous every time they got the ball, Owen Lunt got the 1st with a superb finish into the top corner, Fenton Gibbons got the second, nut megging the keeper and tapping home, Matty Lea got the 3rd with some good footwork and drilling home, Matty also got the 4th popping up at the back post from a corner. 4 - 0 half time. The 2nd half started the same way with Linnets dominating the play, OwenL again showing magic footwork and drilling a shot which Harry Davis turned in. 5 nil, the sixth came through Owen Cushion a scramble in the box which fell to him nicely to see over the line, Bradley Smith got the 7th with an ice cool finish, Fenton got his second of the day with some lively play cutting out a pass beating the defence and slotting home 8 - 0, OwenL again popped up capping a great M.O.M performance 9 - 0, and Ethan Chicco Taburn rounded the day off with a great finish 10 nil and a very good team performance all round.

Under 10s

Sat – Saw last season’s 1st take on 2nd (Pex Hill Pirates) in what promised to be a cracking opener to the Halton & District JFL. Linnets picked up 3 injuries in the warm up ruling one of the team out for the match and the other 2 give it a go. Linnets controlled the game and ran out 4-0 winners, nod to PHPs keeper who had an outstanding game as it could have been a cricket score 4-0 and up and running. Goals from Ben Hough (2), Tom Collins and a cool take and finish from makeshift striker Jaiden Patel to open the scoring. MoM could have gone anywhere but Tom Collins just nicked it for a superb performance and for playing through the pain. Special mention to Ethan Olubodun who is on crutches after damaging knee ligament during the 1st half - Get well Ethan.

Sun – With an injury hit squad and only 7 players available two of whom were carrying injuries Linnets took on Old Xavs Jags in their 1st Merseyside & Halewood game. Linnets lost a player and ended the 1st half playing 6v8 after Luke Hayes had to withdraw from the game due to injury. 2nd half began with 6v7 and Linnets had chances to go in front but Xavs pressed on, some warrior like performances from Linnets to keep them out. Unlucky Linnets conceded direct from a corner with 5 mins to go but never gave up searching for the equaliser. Every Linnet gave 120% and made the parents and coaches proud, sometimes you don’t get out what you put in. MoM went to new Sunday keeper Aaron Brennan who made a string of fine saves to keep Linnets in the game. It was a very costly weekend for the 10s as they picked up 5 possibly 6 injuries to the squad.

Under 11s

Sat – 11s stepped up to 9v9 Halton & District and had to come from one down to win 9-1 against Pex Hill Rovers. A great team performance with all new signings getting on the score sheet. MoM went to Liam Gobin. Goals from Ryan Brooks (3), Liam (2), one each for Millsy, Patto, George and Owen.
