Under 10 Archers

Started of a cagey affair against a very well organised team and it took us 12 minutes to break the deadlock after a great cross from josh was met by Jack and headed into the far top corner, great header. A scrappy game saw most of it being played in the middle of the park and when we did break through the opp goalie pulled of some fine saves.  Just before half time though, josh had a long range effort that nestled into the far corner.  At the other end Joseph, Stan and Jake were alert to any danger and Alex when called upon pulled off a number of good saves.

Second half saw us press higher up the pitch, Jake Stan and Joseph were doing there bit at the back and supporting the attack at every opportunity, the energy and desire shown by Josh, Tom, Fin and James in midfield working hard to retrieve the ball and using wisely in possession gave us the upper hand.  Midway through the second half saw two goals from James, one excellent team goal as we turned defence into attack and countered quickly, the other a fine solo effort picking the ball up on the left and going round 3 players before drilling home from a tight angle.

With the defence holding firm Alex had little to do but when called upon made two goods saves.  Still time to push forward with both Tom and Fin being denied by excellent saves from opp keeper the breakthrough came 5 mins from time as James picked the ball up from Alex at left back, switched play to fin on the right wing who slotted inside to Tom who played the perfect weighted pass into Jacks path.  Still with it all to do jack went round one man and cooley slotted into the bottom corner from close range sending the keeper the wrong way

Solid team performance again, the lads are really impressing so far this year,  an excellent performance from every single player, goals from Jack, James and Josh,  MOM Josh Howard

Under 12 Blue

RUNCORN Linnets' under 12s Sunday Blue team returned to winning ways with a 7-2 demolition job at home to an under strength Chester Nomads side.

The one-sided encounter left the newly-formed Yellows riding high in the Chester and District JFL top flight with a record of three wins and one defeat.

Determined to make amends for the previous week's 4-3 lost at Christleton New Scene, Linnets flew out of the blocks against a Chester side that beat them in a pre-season friendly and took the lead when the unselfish Josh Oakes presented Alfie Hayes with a tap-in after latching on to a poor clearance.
Chester equalised with a smart finish on the break before Alfie swept the ball home at the near post after latching on to a through ball from the industrious Sean Gaskell.
Sean netted himself soon after, finding the roof of the net with a powerful strike following good work down the right by Callum Turrell and a lush lay-off from Josh Senior.
Speedster Josh Senior rifled a shot against the post early in the second half before having better luck with a classy curler that nestled into the far corner.
An own goal put Linnets 5-1 up after Chester's goalkeeper had made a smart save from Daniel Lampkin.
Lampkin blasted in a sixth with his weaker left foot before the diminutive Josh Senior rounded off the scoring with a rare headed goal following a well flighted corner from Callum.
All of Linnets' players shone in a dominant display and their man of the match award was shared by Josh Senior and Alfie.
